RISE is a specialist contractor on a mission to make the UK accessible for all. We work nationwide, across all sectors, enhancing disabled provision with our Changing Places, sensory rooms, and modular home extensions.
Together with our partners at Access For All UK, we also deliver a range of specialist training courses, including an ‘Autism in Mainstream Education’ seminar and ‘Accessibility Champion’ training.
Our modular sensory rooms are ideal for schools with limited internal space to adapt. These pre-fabricated facilities are built offsite and craned into position to create an instant space for play and learning.
Whilst our standard modular sensory rooms are sized at 3m x 4m, they can be re-sized to suit your specific requirements. They come fully equipped with a range of the latest sensory equipment to cater for a range of needs.
Many schools are adjusting to make their environment more inclusive for pupils of all abilities. One such school is Cherry Orchard Primary School in Charlton, where we installed a modular sensory room in late 2020 (during lockdown).
Sensory rooms have long been known to benefit children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorders, but have traditionally been associated with special schools. It is only in recent years that sensory rooms have started to be adopted by mainstream schools, perhaps linked to the high number of autistic students now present in in the education system.
A sensory room can be used by pupils with a range of problems and support needs, most commonly used by children with autism, but children with anxiety, ADHD and behavioural issues can also benefit.
A key benefit of a modular sensory room versus the adaptation of existing space (toilet, cloakroom etc.), is the speed and ease of installation. The majority of work takes place offsite, with your ‘pod’ arriving fully kitted-out and ready to go within a couple of days.
Opting for a modular solution will also ensure ample space for students to fully benefit from the equipment provided. Plus, our standard specification has been carefully designed to cater for a wide range of needs, meaning that most schools across both primary and secondary phases don’t need to worry about selecting from a or myriad of products – we have a proven formula that works.
Our modular facilities usually situated in playgrounds or car parks, where crane access is possible. All you need to do is select the location and we’ll do the rest.
