Changing Places Toilet FAQs

Changing Places FAQs: Common Questions About Our Toilets

The UK leads the world in Changing Places provision, however there is still a huge lack of awareness about the facilities and campaign in general. Here are some of the most common questions we receive from clients across all sectors…

Can a modular Changing Places facility be located anywhere?
Yes, in most cases our changing places are installed in public areas that have access to drainage and services.

Can our Changing Places facility be an extension, rather than freestanding?
Yes. All of our units can be installed as extensions to existing buildings.

How much disruption will there be during installing?
In short, very little. Because our modular facilities are manufactured off-site at our production facility, the only on-site disruption are caused by groundworks and installation. This can take up to four days depending on the location.

How much does one of your Changing Places cost?
This varies depending on size and specification, however, our standard modular Changing Places facilities start from £55,000.

If the groundworks are done by another provider can you supply and install only?
Yes can offer both a ‘supply only’ or a ‘supply and install’ package.

Can you create a Changing Places toilet with an internal adaptation?
Yes, we can adapt existing buildings/facilities and have created Changing Places and hygiene rooms for previous clients.

Is it illegal for my business not to provide a Changing Places facility?
It’s not illegal, but current legislation (BS 8300:2009 and Building Regulations Approved Document M 2013) describes Changing Places toilets as ‘desirable’ in larger buildings and complexes. Under the Equality Act 2010, service providers are also required to make reasonable changes where a disabled person would otherwise be at a substantial disadvantage.
