Changing Places Case Study: Two Projects for Redcar & Cleveland Council

The Redcar and Cleveland borough, situated in the North East, has a large stretch of coastline and includes attractions and historic towns, including Redcar Beach and the popular market town of Guisborough.

With much to see and do in the area, Redcar and Cleveland Council aim to ensure there is an adequate supply of Changing Places toilets throughout the borough — for both the local community to use, and for visitors.

Two Loos!

Following a successful tender submission, RISE Adaptations installed two modular Changing Places toilets for Redcar and Cleveland Council. Part of our success was our ability to deliver the two facilities simultaneously, thanks to our large team and well-executed delivery programmes for Changing Places toilets.

Better Days Out for Disabled People in Guisborough

Guisborough is a historic market town in the Redcar District. Close to the North York Moors National Park, the town is an attraction in its own right with a historic priory, traditional markets and shops. We installed a modular Changing Places toilet in the centrally located Fountain Street East Car Park.

The location chosen was ideal and follows on from previous car park renovations carried out by the council which included a brand-new toilet block. The addition of the new Changing Places toilet means there is now a full suite of faculties for anyone that wants to spend a day in Guisborough.

The busy car park is one of the first things visitors will see when arriving in Guisborough so the modular facility we installed needed to look appealing and fit in with the existing facilities – the council chose a grey weatherboard finish, which looks very smart!

Stephen Leng, Property Manager at Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council had this to say about the project:

“The installation by RISE is, by far and away, much better than we expected. The quality and the standards of the facilities, both for visitors and residents in the borough, far outweighs anything we were expecting.

“Our CPT gives access to everybody; it brings people in and gives them the opportunity to get on the beach, where in the past it would’ve been very difficult for them. We plan to build more Changing Places toilets in the future and see them as absolutely key to the area.”
