Video Case Study: Grimm & Co

Grimm & Co is a creative writing charity, based not too far from us in Rotherham. Their primary focus is getting school-age kids to engage their imaginations and put pen to paper, creating stories to help them make sense of their world. Through workshops, school visits and classes, the team at Grimm & Co give underprivileged kids an outlet to express their own unique voices while championing the cause of storytelling.

Having grown massively since its founding in 2016, Grimm & Co is about to complete a move to a newly converted building in the heart of Rotherham. Their new Emporium of Stories at the top of Ship Hill not only acts as a base for their important charity work but also plays host to The Apothecary to the Magical and the Feastery Cafe, two vital sources of funding that will help to secure the long-term viability of their work.

RISE supported Grimm & Co with a Changing Places adaptation, taking a disused toilet block within their Grade II listed deconsecrated church and transforming it into a fully compliant CPT.

The best part about working with RISE? “The people,” says Lisa, Grimm’s Head of Operations. “They were friendly to work with, tidy to work with and they took real pride in their work.”
