In this introduction to Changing Places you’ll learn basic information about the Changing Places campaign itself and the progress being made. You will also gain an understanding of why these facilities exist, and learn about the quarter of a million people who need to use these facilities.
Launched in 2006, the campaign to increase the number of Changing Places toilets installed has steadily grown year on year.
Changing Places are public bathroom facilities for people whose needs aren’t met by a common, or even standard accessible toilet.
Research has found that over a quarter of a million severely disabled people don’t have access to public toilet facilities that meet their needs.
Most places you find a toilet and standard accessible toilet people would benefit from access to a Changing Places toilet.
